Amazon.com Review
The first book in the children's version of Jerry B. Jenkins and Tim LaHaye's sleeper-hit Left Behind, The Vanishings introduces us to Judd ("The Runaway") and his three imperfect companions: Vicki ("The Rebel"), Lionel ("The Liar"), and Ryan ("The Skeptic"). These four teens, for one reason or another, all failed to submit to the power of the living Lord, despite their friends' and parents' best efforts. And when Pastor Billings's Rapture actually happens--sending Christian-piloted trains, planes, and automobiles crashing as millions of true believers literally vanish in the blink of an eye, leaving behind nothing but their skivvies and their W.W.J.D. necklaces--the four wayward teenagers get religion and fast. The saga continues when they receive a second chance in book two. Ages 9 to 12) --Paul Hughes

Picking up where The Vanishings left off, Second Chance is just that: at the close of book one, Judd, Vicki, Lionel, and Ryan met up at New Hope Village Church and got the Good News from now-humbled pastor Bruce Barnes (who, despite his degree from Bible college, got left behind after the Rapture for failing to receive Christ, just like the kids). Lionel, nixed by the Messiah on a technicality in book one, jumps at the chance to join the winning team, but the other kids are too angry and confused after watching their world get turned upside down. Book two follows their search for truth as they piece together the wreckage of the Rapture in each of their lives, knowing full well that the end of the world isn't far off--just seven years, according to Bruce, once Israel signs a treaty with the Antichrist. By the book's end, two more Left Behind kids wise up, but one holds out, still too scared and mad to sign on.

Starting just a few days after Jesus Christ snatched the faithful to heaven in The Vanishings (the first book in the Left Behind: The Kids series), Through the Flames opens with our four teen heroes shacked up in Judd's abandoned house. Judd, Vicki, and Lionel are still trying to convince Ryan that he should accept Christ if he knows what's good for him--Judd even makes Ryan go to church and Bible study as a condition of living with them. ("As long as you live under my roof, you follow my rules....") But even bigger problems are brewing. The four must stay on the lookout for the Antichrist, whom their Bible mentor Bruce says will trigger seven years of tribulation once he signs a pact with Israel. And Lionel has to investigate the mysterious circumstances of his drug-addled uncle's supposed death.

Amazon.com Review
Our four teen heroes--Judd, Vicki, Lionel, and Ryan--are still spooked after the amazing events of The Vanishings (the first book in the Left Behind: The Kids series), when Christ called back millions of his faithful in the blink of an eye, leaving these kids who hadn't accepted Jesus as "instant orphans." Facing the Future continues the cliff-hanging ending of the third book, Through the Flames, where the kids successfully pull off a sting on the man who murdered Lionel's uncle and convert countless others to life with Christ. But they soon realize they have even more to worry about: Bruce thinks he's fingered the great deceiver, the Antichrist, a man named Nicolae Carpathia. The Left Behind kids break out their Bibles to form the Kids Tribulation Force, while Bruce outlines why Carpathia has taken over the instrument of all future evil, the United Nations, and a secret meeting with an eyewitness to evil confirms the kids' worst fears.

School's back in session, and evil is in the curriculum: Judd and Vicki's old school has just been renamed Nicolae Carpathia High after the UN's new secretary-general, whom scripture-guru Bruce declares is the Antichrist and who has already begun planning a one-world government, religion, and currency. Our four heroes, recovering from the chaos of the Rapture just weeks ago (starting with The Vanishings, the first book in the Left Behind: The Kids series), are brushing up on Ezekiel, Daniel, and Revelation, preparing to help in the last-minute "soul harvest" prophesied for the end-times. But it won't be easy, because the faculty is confiscating Bibles and citing separation of church and state to put a lid on the truth. The Young Tribulation Force has to get creative to spread the Good News.

Book six in the Left Behind: The Kids series, The Underground shares its title with the Young Trib Force's secret school newspaper, preaching the true story of the Rapture and the Tribulation to the left-behind students of Nicolae Carpathia High. Judd, Vicki, Lionel, and Ryan all pitch in to make the paper happen, despite pressure from Carpathia's faculty and even a mysterious, possibly demonic hard drive crash. But with high-tech help from new friends and the aid of prominent journalist and eyewitness to evil Bruce Williams, the growing group manages to deliver The Underground to almost every student in school. Everything's going well until Global Community heavies get involved--and one of the Trib Force members gets caught because she spread the word of God!

Piloting his 747, Rayford Steele is musing about his wife Irene's irritating religiosity and contemplating the charms of his "drop-dead gorgeous" flight attendant, Hattie. First Irene was into Amway, then Tupperware, and now it's the Rapture of the Saints--the scary last story in the Bible in which Christians are swept to heaven and unbelievers are left behind to endure the Antichrist's Tribulation. Steele believes he'll put the plane on autopilot and go visit Hattie. But Hattie's in a panic: some of the passengers have disappeared! The Rapture has happened, abruptly driverless cars are crashing all over, and the slick, sinister Romanian Nicolae Carpathia plans to use the UN to establish one world government and religion. Resembling "a young Robert Redford" and silver-tongued in nine languages, Carpathia is named People's "Sexiest Man Alive." (This reviewer, a former People writer, finds this plot twist plausible.) Meanwhile, Steele teams up with Buck Williams, a buck-the-system newshound, to form the Tribulation Force, an underground of left-behind penitents battling the Antichrist.

Take a pound of apocalyptic suspense, add a dash of conspiracy, a little romance, and you've got a recipe for publishing success.
When authors Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins first imagined Left Behind, their goal was to create "...the first fictional portrayal of events that are true to the literal interpretation of Bible prophecy." Left Behind began as a sleeper, starting slowly and building steadily, selling by word of mouth. Eventually the book became a bestseller and LaHaye and Jenkins discovered that the story would take more than one book to tell, so they continued the tale in Tribulation Force.
Set against the backdrop of the Rapture, in which Jesus has returned as promised to gather his followers and remove them from this world, the characters in Tribulation Force must confront life without their loved ones, struggle with evil unleashed on the world, and ultimately embrace God's truth for themselves.
Pilot Rayford Steele, his daughter Chloe, journalist Buck Williams, and pastor Bruce Barnes band together to study the Bible, pray, and support one another through this time of terror and uncertainty. They realize that Nicolae Carpathia is the prophesied Antichrist, as they watch him consolidate his power. Buck and Rayford find themselves employees of Nicolae, keeping their faith in Jesus secret so that they can continue to work and share their faith unhindered while secretly fighting the Antichrist with the other members of the tribulation force. The authors have drawn a story of intrigue and adventure set against a cataclysm of global proportions. Readers captivated by Left Behind will certainly want to read Tribulation Force.

Antichrist. The very word send shivers through us. And Nicolae Carpathia certainly does not disappoint as Antichrist. Nicolae is the third book in Left Behind series written by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins, and is preceded by book one, Left Behind, and book two, Tribulation Force.
Nicolae Carpathia becomes the focus as he continues to consolidate his power, unifying political states ("Global Community"), media ("Global Community Network," "Global Weekly"), and religions ("Enigma Babylon One World Faith") under a Nicolae-appointed supreme pontiff. Nicolae himself is grand potentate of the global community.
Our heroes, pilot Rayford Steele and journalist Buck Williams, along with the rest of the Tribulation Force, continue their struggle to survive and protect their families in the midst of global war and destruction. They have come to recognize Nicolae Carpathia to be the Antichrist prophesied in the Bible, and to them it comes as no great revelation that this man, who presented himself as a charming and benevolent leader, has been unmasked as a ruthless and cruel tyrant, manipulating people and events to serve his own ends. And his ends are undoubtedly evil.
It becomes apparent that the chaos and turmoil created by Nicolae are the fulfillment of John's prophesy of the seven seals as recorded in the book of Revelation. And it becomes also apparent they are now facing the sixth seal, a great earthquake which is sometimes called "the wrath of the lamb." This upheaval of the earth, with its accompanying death and destruction, is familiar apocalyptic imagery: a blood-red moon, a sun turned black, and the stars falling from the sky. And the Tribulation Force discovers that these incredible descriptions turn out to be not so very far from the truth.
Who survives? How? What does Nicolae have in mind for the world? Readers of the first two books should not be disappointed with this third installment to this chilling tale.

Having survived the wrath of the Lamb--a global earthquake in the 21st month of the Tribulation--pilot Rayford Steele and reporter Buck Williams now embark on a journey of absorbing adventure and Christian triumph. Soul Harvest is book four in the enormously popular Left Behind series (seven books are planned in all), based on those who are left behind in the Rapture. Written with the same gripping pace of Tom Clancy and John Grisham film rights have already been sold for the first two books), the authors take us to Iraq, America, underground shelters, and the bottom of the Tigris river as Steele and Williams search for loved ones. Meanwhile, biblical prophecies are fulfilled at every turn, including the great soul harvest. For many Christian followers, this series has become a tangible and thrilling testament to the Book of Revelations. --Gail Hudson

Apollyon: The Destroyer Is Unleashed, by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins, is another suspenseful chronicle of those left behind after the rapture of the saved. As the book opens, Hattie Durham, the former airline attendant and mistress of the antichrist, Nicolae Carpathia, is wracked with confusion about what to do with her illegitimate child, whose birth date is coming due. Rayford Steele, the airline pilot who flies Carpathia's plane, is ambivalent about the mounting evidence that his late wife, Amanda, may have been a false believer. Buck, the ace newspaper reporter, and Chloe, his wife, are debating whether to have a child when the future of the world is so uncertain.
And all of the world's thousands of believers are gathering in Jerusalem for a stadium rally, which will lead to a showdown with Nicolae Carpathia. Believers are increasingly relying on the Internet for underground communication, and most of them are becoming more and more tempted by violence as a way of battling the forces of evil overtaking the world. But demon locusts are shortly dispatched as a divine plague to attack those who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads; this buys the believers a little bit of time to solve their respective personal crises, all of which end in ways that will keep you riveted until the last page.

Is it right to kill Satan's hit man? Would it help God's work? This installment in the Left Behind series picks up with Rayford Steele--"believer" and international fugitive--as he struggles with a plan to assassinate Antichrist Nicolae Carpathia. Meanwhile, Carpathia has been busy rebuilding roads, airports, and a cellular/solar satellite phone system--all designed to help him become supreme ruler of the world--and even claim himself to be God.
We also find ace reporter Buck Williams anonymously preaching to the masses of believers and converts through his cyberspace magazine The Truth. All the believers in the safe house, including Buck, Doc, Chloe, and Tsion, are suspicious of Hattie--former mistress of Carpathia--who claims to be a believer but may have already compromised their secret location when she tried to buy her way to Europe months before.
Fans of the series won't be disappointed. Jenkins's signature writing is at full force. Readers can count on a suspenseful plot, imaginative futuristic thinking, and familiar characters, all of which appear in the opening pages and are sustained until the last cliffhanger scene when God unleashes another earth-shattering disaster.
